Children's Ministries at St. John's nurture children socially and spiritually in an informal and safe environment
Just as Jesus welcomed children, so do we. We offer a variety of ministries and programs including Children's Church, fellowship, choir, and service opportunities.
All volunteers who work with children and youth undergo training that covers appropriate boundaries and policies to ensure that St. John's Cathedral is a truly safe and sacred place.
The Kids' Place: Nursery and Child Care
Our “Kids’ Place” nursery for infants, toddlers and younger children is located on the south side of Jewett House, ground floor. We provide a Christ-centered program during worship services and other events. Qualified caregivers provide a safe, warm and loving environment for young children.
During the program year, the nursery is staffed from 9am until noon, allowing parents to participate in the Adult Forum, Cathedral Choir, and worship. During the summer, the nursery is staffed 10am-noon.
Every Sunday, mid-September through mid-June, beginning at 10:30am. the children gather in Room 143 (near the nursery) for Children's Church. They re-join the grown-ups just before the Eucharist. Family activities are offered in Room 144 beginning at 10am.
During the Children's Church time, children - preschool and older - enjoy age-appropriate music, prayers, snacks and stories from the Bible.
Young Eagles is a fellowship group for young people in 3rd-6th grades. It usually meets four times Fridays during the school year, 6:30pm-8:30pm. The evening begins with dinner, then Christian-based fellowship and cooperative games. Friends are welcomed and encouraged.
