We offer a variety of ministries and programs including Sunday School, Junior Choir, fellowship, and opportunities to serve in worship and in the community. All volunteers who work with children and youth undergo training that covers appropriate boundaries and policies, including CPR training and Safeguarding God's Children, to ensure that St. John's Cathedral is a truly safe and sacred place.

We proudly provide a comfortable (though not sound-proof!) child-friendly area within our worship space. Children of all ages are welcome to participate in worship.

The Kids' Place: Nursery and Child Care

Our “Kids’ Place” nursery for infants, toddlers and younger children is located on the south side of Jewett House, ground floor. We provide a Christ-centered program during worship services and other events. Qualified caregivers provide a safe, warm and loving environment for young children.

During the program year, the nursery is staffed from 9am until noon, allowing parents to participate in the Adult Forum, Cathedral Choir, and worship. During the summer, the nursery is staffed 10am-noon.

Sunday Morning Children's Ministry

Every Sunday, mid-September through mid-June, children gather for Christian formation.

10:30am - Children begin in the Cathedral and then move to Building Faith Sunday School (age 6-12) near the Welcome Center or Whirl: Lectionary Bible Stories Sunday School (age 2-5) near the Nursery. All children join the grown-ups in the Cathedral just before the Eucharist.

Middles School Youth Group

Young Eagles is a fellowship group for young people in 6th-8th grade. We meet most Sundays during the school year, noon-2pm, joining with our friends at St. Stephen's Church, 5720 S. Perry Street.
