Creation 2020 Art Exhibition - POSTPONED

Submissions desired!

CREATION2020 is a juried art exhibition accompanying the 2020 Hope for Creation Conference at The Cathedral of St. John the Evangelist in Spokane, April 17-18.

St. John’s Cathedral Arts Guild invites artists of all faiths and traditions to submit two-dimensional work in response to climate change and/or the myriad facets of environmental stewardship. We welcome work in a variety of mediums {height + width < 60”}; if selected the artwork should be delivered framed and/or ready to hang securely. CREATION2020 will be on display in the Cathedral Great Hall Gallery for the month of April.

What is our relationship to the natural world? Whose responsibility is it to make sure air, water, and earth are clean? Can we strike a balance between development and sustainability? What is the role of government in solving issues? What guidance can our varied spiritual traditions offer us? We look forward to receiving submissions of art that interacts with these questions.

I urgently appeal, then, for a new dialogue about how we are shaping the future of our planet. We need a conversation which includes everyone, since the environmental challenge we are undergoing, and its human roots, concern and affect us all. --Pope Francis (Encyclical Letter, Laudato Si’: On Care for Our Common Home, 2015)
