Christian formation, fellowship, and serving others weave through all of the Cathedral's ministries
St. John's Cathedral is the home of a large parish congregation as well as being the seat of the Episcopal Diocese of Spokane. We are a Chrsit-centered community that has maintained tradition while actively seeking a contemporary understanding of faith in our own place and time. We remain eager to discover and promote the Kingdom of God in our community and world in ways that speak to the times in which we live. Our congregational community seeks to explore and learn, to deepen our maturity through liturgey, scripture, sacraments, music, teaching, and prayer. Opportunities for service, hospitality, and witness to Christ abound - both within our walls and outside them.
When St. John's first opened for worship in 1929, the congregations of three Spokane Episcopal chruches - All Saints Cathedral, St. Peter's Church, and St. James Church - merged to become the new Cathedral. St. John the Evangelist began as a dream in the mind of Bishop Edward Makin Cross. Evidence of this history remains today in St. Peter's, St. James' and All Saints chapels within the Cathedral and in some of the communion vessels that are used regularly in weekly worship. It also may be seen in the theological, political and economic diversity that exists within the congregation. All are respected and welcomed. We know that we are enriched by this diversity.
We would love to have you join us!

Yoga in the Cathedral - One Sunday afternoon a month during the program year (usually the fourth Sunday, at 3pm), Cathedral members and friends spread their yoga mats on the floor of the Cathedral as they integrate breath, body, and the sacred.
