Welcome to The Cathedral of St. John the Evangelist!
Our Mission

To be a Christian community that invites people into a life where, through liturgy, outreach, hospitality, and education, we all discover what it means to be beloved children of God.

St. John’s is a Christ-centered, theologically progressive community that has maintained tradition while actively seeking a contemporary understanding of faith in our own place and time.

Our Faith

The essence of our Episcopal faith is outlined in the Nicene Creed, a summary of our beliefs from the earliest years of the Christian church. The insights of history, psychology, and modern science are welcomed in our study of scripture and our conversations about the Good News of God in Christ. Seeking, doubting, and exploring are honored as integral aspects of our faith.

Our Worship

Wonder and mystery are hallmarks of our shared worship, and the beauty of music, language, and this holy space help us to encounter God. Our Book of Common Prayer contains both the stately language of Shakespeare and the King James Bible, and also the fresh and direct language of today. We celebrate the Eucharist—or Holy Communion—as a symbol of our oneness as children of God, and all who seek God are welcome at Christ's table.

Our Welcome

At St. John's, each person is honored and respected in the fullness of their human identity. No one is barred from marriage, leadership positions, or ordained ministry because of their gender identity, sexual orientation, race, or physical ability. Whoever you are, and wherever you are in your journey of faith, you are a beloved child of God. There is a place for you here in God's house.
